Welcome to Muslim-photographer.com the online magazine for Muslim photographers.

MP is a website that intends to help promote Muslim photographers and their works.  Whether it helps to enlighten others about these key photographers or generates business for the photographers both are seen as useful outcomes of this site.  We also intend to interview owners of photography orientated businesses too so that photographers can link up with agents, printers, publishers etc, so that a solid Muslim community within the photography art-form can be established.

Why only muslim photographers?
There are so many websites out there that help promote photographers (which is a good thing) but sadly there are many photographers who deal with haram subjects such as nudity, alcohol, macabre etc, so perusing these sites can be a very annoying venture (which is a bad thing).

After perusing one such site though I really needed the research, I became infuriated to the point that I abandoned my original idea (sometimes there are no alternatives to common search words).  At this point I sat down and thought about the whole scenario and came to the conclusion that if no one else has started a muslim only portal for the photographic arts then I should do so.

In today’s society where there is a lot of haram material seemingly easily available all over the internet from social networking sites to even public blogs is it not a sigh of relief to have at least one place where one can read and peruse freely without the worry of haram material appearing? Muslim-photographer.com aims to be just that.

Isn’t photography haram?
For every scholar since the camera was invented there is a fatwa about photography that suits that particular scholar’s interpretations: some are for photography some are against, some are against certain aspects of photography whilst others state that it is a good medium for education but that’s all, etc.
It is not for us to discuss this issue, nor will we entertain the discussion.  As far as the owner of muslim-photographer.com is concerned photography is a means of describing a scene; relaying a news; showing a description; and sharing in God’s creation.  Anyone can understand that our photographs are neither for worship nor for glorification but for the simple use of relaying our thoughts, feelings, views, scenes, sights, places, society, our events, and our world.
Photography is a means of expression not a means of exalting.
Our cameras are a tool in Dowwa.

Is it a Sunni or Shia’a or Sufi orientated website?
None.
This is a portal for Muslim photographers and those interested in the photography arts period.
We do not look at the creed of a persons belief within Islam as there is too much finger pointing in today’s Islamic world.
First we must repair ourselves before we criticize others and muslim-photographer.com and its authors will never ask an individual about their orientation or their belief system. This area of discussion is not needed in this forum for we are for the promoting of Islam in a positive light and for the kinship and bonds in which we should be strengthening and not looking for ways to make them weaker.
May Allah Subhanwata’Allah protect us all in this respect.

And Lastly?
If anyone has suggestions to improve the site or wish to advertise on here or even wishes to donate to the site with tutorials, works, or even financial support to keep the magazine at it’s best then please email me your intent and I will personally get back to you to see how we can work together.
